Grief
A tidal wave out of nowhere, forever altering the course of your life, changing how you viewed even the most simplest of things.
Memories become more precious because they are all you have left, apart from the photos depicting the happiness you all shared.
Tears, lots of tears, for the loss and how it hurts like nothing felt before.
The people, with their presence guised by fake sympathies and the menu that will be served when they come round.
The politics - of how this affects the family, different members and old arguments resurface. All irrelevant in the face of the loss.
The “normality”, of having to move past it all and continue as before, but feeling like a part of you is missing.
The inability to share the emotions, not wanting to burden those around us.
Grief will affect us all in our lifetime. I only hope we can continue to treat people with kindness, as their journeys are not public in every sense.
