SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN
If you saw a poster saying 'be happy', does it work? Or does music find a better way of saying it?
Seventeen just released their 11th mini album: Seventeeth Heaven, after the 10th mini album 'FML' in April. The 8 tracks cover a wide range of themes including happiness, friendship, and empathy.
The overall theme of the album is a festival - the CARATs (fans of Seventeen) are invited to join Seventeen in achieving happiness through their music as a way of thanking them for their support. I really enjoyed watching the teasers as well as the God of Music MV because of how joyous it was. It really emphasised the importance of music in uplifting people's moods and how life would be without it. Also, the lead title was a reference to Seventeen's success so far and honestly, they deserve it given how many records they've broken, their lead single Super from the FML album was their fastest MV to reach 100 million views!
My favourite song on the album so far is SOS as the background sound is just my kind of music. I like the songs that tend to be upbeat and energetic, like the message behind the album. SOS is about being there for the people that need it and looking out for them, as well as asking for help when you need it. It reminds us that it is ok not to be ok, as cliched as that sounds. Like I said before, you don't necessarily connect with words on a poster but having that message conveyed via music can be more impactful.
I love music because of its ability to portray so much through sounds, vocals, imagery, and concepts. This album continues Seventeen's ability to showcase their raw side, even when the music is upbeat, the message is one that resonates with us all. We should support those around us and be happy because life is too short otherwise.
